Obituary of Lloyd Allan Hutchison, New Victoria

Lloyd Hutchison, 65, of New Victoria, Cape Breton passed away suddenly on July 30, 2023.

He was born in New Waterford to Evelyn (Gillis) and John Hutchison.

Lloyd spent most of his childhood in his favorite place, Inverness, NS, with his grandparents, Christy and John Gillis. Lloyd was a member of the Sea Cadets as a youth and later made it a career in the Navy. He loved being on and near the water. He later started working as a custodian for a mall in Sydney where he made lots of friends and co-workers. Lloyd always thought he was the funniest guy in the room, and sometimes he really was.

Lloyd was predeceased by his mother, Evelyn (Gillis), father, John Hutchison; the love of his life, Karen Heffernan; brother, John Hutchison and sister, Iris Hutchison.

Lloyd was survived by his sons, James Heffernan and Zachery McPhee; siblings, Ken Hutchison, Mary Hutchison, Heather Henry (Chuck Henry), Margaret McCulloch (Ron McCulloch), Dolores Leadbeater, Kimberly MacDonald, James Hutchison (Colleen Leudy) and loved by so many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lloyd was also survived by special friends, who were considered family, Jankers Heffernan, Verna Gillis, Shauna Gillis, Jimmy Heffernan, and Joan Heffernan.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, with Father Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home.
