Obituary of Linda Marie (Detienne) Power, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Linda, announce her passing on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

Born in New Waterford Aug. 31, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Anthony 'Ott' and Rosina Detienne.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Raymond and daughter, Natalie (Jim) McNeil.

Linda was the best Nanny to Josh and Taylor. Her pride and joy were her two great-grandchildren, Ryker and Maven. 

She is also survived by her siblings, Mildred (Joe) McKinnon, George (Ranelda) Detienne, Louis Detienne (Jason), Amelia (Cary) Kaplan;  sister-in-law, Bertha Detienne (Jimmy). 

Linda was blessed with many nieces and nephews, Annette (Danny) Lewis, Angela Detienne, Michelle Detienne, Adam (Beth) Detienne and grand nephews, Weston and Miles Detienne and her lifelong friend, Isabell (Bobby) MacLean.

She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Detienne.

Mom was a gentle soul who was content with the simple joys of life.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
