George Maurice DeLaval Glace Bay It is with deepest sympathy that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, George Maurice DeLaval, age 63. George passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016 at his home in Glace Bay. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Maurice and Gladys (Richardson) DeLaval, Calgary. George was a hardworking man who was employed with Breton Tire, Sydney for over 31 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and going lobster fishing. George is survived by his wife, Bernadette (MacNeil) DeLaval, two daughters, Tanya (John), Crystal (Blair) and his two granddaughters, Emma and Madison. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Ann, Glace Bay, Gloria (Dusty), Calgary, four brothers, Robert (Jeanette), Glace Bay, Billy, Blair (Laurel), Johnny (Gina), all in Alberta, three sisters in law, Sherri, Alberta, Debra, Sharon, Glace Bay and three brothers in law, Chris, Michael, Johnny, all in Glace Bay. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brother, Ray, father and mother in law, John and Mary MacNeil, Glace Bay, two brothers in law, Jack Haydu, Peter "Petie" MacNeil, two sisters in law, Carol MacNeil and Jeanette MacNeil. George will be sadly missed by many family, friends and coworkers. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee is Friday, 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church followed by interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. The reception will follow in the church hall.
