It is with great sadness that we the family, announce the passing of our beloved father John Howard Roach, age 81, on Wednesday August 1, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital , Sydney.


Born in New Waterford on June 16, 1937, he was the son of the late Henry and Florence Roach.


John spent many years in sales, eventually he owned two businesses, Reliable Carpet Mills and Paradise Carpets, from which he retired. Dad had many passions in life, cards, darts, dances, karaoke, shooting pool and golfing; something that he shared with his many friends. Dad always said he was going to live life to the fullest and that he did. Always bringing a smile and feeling of good cheer to all.


John was a loving father and papa to his daughters, Mary (Mark), Lisa (Billy), Kathy (Joseph), Shirley (Billy) and grandchildren, Mark, John , Jennifer, Jessica, Ryan, Josie, Drake and Sarah, his family in Windsor, Ontario, Mary Lou (Wayne), Charmaine (Johnny), Rose and Lillian and his special friend and companion, Mary and her daughter, Karen.


Besides his parents, he was predeceased by Louise, the mother of his children; sons; John, Paul (Sandra); his brother Gus and sisters, Mary and Annie.


Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, August 6th, 2018 from 5 pm until the time of the service at 8 p.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Interment will follow the service in St. Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford.
