Obituary of Song Huang, China/Glace Bay
Song Huang
Canton, China / Glace Bay
Mr. Song Huang, age 85 of Glace Bay, passed away on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Canton, China, he was the son of the late Yik Jing and Toyki (Mah) Huang.
Song worked as the Secretary of County #6 in Tai Shan, China. He was also in charge of a number of construction projects for the county’s public works back in the 1960’s.
Song always enjoyed helping people. He loved living in Cape Breton and was a well respected person in the area.
Song couldn’t speak English but he would always smile to anybody he came in contact with during his daily drives on his bicycle or anywhere you would meet him. He really enjoyed babysitting his eight grandchildren until they went to school and university. Song also used his bicycle to go to Sobeys or the Superstore to buy treats for his grandchildren.
Some of his passions included gardening, walking and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Xiao (Mah) Huang, daughter, Vicki Wong (Jimmy Wong), Glace Bay, two sons, Jian Huang (Jenny Wu), Truro, Allen Huang (Pam Huang), Glace Bay, eight grandchildren, Fiona, Christina, Philip Wong, John, Brent, Andy, Judy and Jonathan Huang.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 9th, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 am in the funeral home chapel followed by a reception then interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
