MAC CORMACK, Sadie Florence, R.N.

It is with great sadness, yet with divine peace and assurance, that we announce the Home-Going of our beloved mother Sadie Florence (Carmichael) Mac Cormack R.N., 93, of Wittenburg, N.S. and formerly of Glace Bay.

On September 26, 2018 in Truro, Nova Scotia Sadie went into the presence of her Savior whom she loved and served faithfully. Although our hearts are saddened we give thanks to God that she is now in His Everlasting Arms where there will be no more sickness and pain.

Sadie was born in N. E. Margaree (Frizzleton), NS. to Benjamin and Mary Carmichael on April 22, 1925. At a very early age she felt called to the service of nursing and worked for a time at the Inverness Hospital before entering training at the Glace Bay General Hospital where she would later graduate from. She was a compassionate and dedicated nurse spending her entire career of over 40 years nursing at Glace Bay General.

Sadie leaves behind her children, Allan (Florida), Pembroke, Ont., Marilyn (Steve) Royal, Truro, N.S., and Robert (Amanda) Wittenburg, N.S.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen (Bev), Mark (Crystal) and Shaun (Angel) Royal and Andrew and Aaron Mac Cormack, great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Teeghan and Shyla., sister-in-law Bonnie Carmichael and nieces Shauna, Jennifer and Sara. She loved her family dearly and we have all been amazingly blessed and forever influenced by her genuine love and Godly example.

Aside from Sadie’s parents she was predeceased by husband Robert (Bob), son Bruce, and brother Blenis.

Visitation will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 7PM-9 PM. The Home Going Service will take place on Monday, October 1 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Robert Mac Cormack of Wittenburg Baptist Church officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to Glace Bay Baptist Church, Wittenburg Baptist Church or the VON of East Hants/Colchester County. We would like to thank the many Doctors for their exceptional care and especially Dr. Chris Cook and Dr. Evelyn Sutton who went beyond the call of duty. Also, the special Nurses and CCA’s of the VON who provided great care over the last few years. For this we are eternally thankful.
