Obituary of Douglas Edward 'Dougie' MacLeod
It is with sadness that we, the family, announce that Douglas Edward 'Dougie' MacLeod, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Fox Ridge Care Community in Brantford, Ontario.
Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Anthony 'Tony' and Alice Mae (McQuarrie) MacLeod.
Dougie graduated from Dunstan University, P.E.I., in 1964 and went in the Armed Forces to work as a medical student in the O.R. He later joined the Christian Brothers Religious Order in Orangeville, Ontario. Following this, Dougie graduated from Dalhousie University as an English Professor and went on to teach at St. Claire College in Windsor, Ontario for 25 years. Upon retirement, Dougie bought a home in Skye Glen, Cape Breton; a place he truly adored. He spent a great deal of time playing the organ and singing in the choir throughout various parishes in the country. Dougie also enjoyed scuba diving down south and anything involving nature, especially tending to the beautiful flowers in his yard. Dougie was very easy to talk to by all who knew him and could be very witty at times. He was a wonderful person who will always be loved and remembered by family and friends.
