Albert and Steven, I knew your Mom since I was 9 and have loved her from then as a girl, all the time I was her sister-in-law, and as a dear friend since I returned to CB. Heaven will now be a better place with Shirley there. She gave her heart to everyone who crossed her path in life but most especially her two boys. She will be missed always. Your mom was quite simply an amazing human being who was loved by so many including my family. She provided loving care for my mother making it possible for my mom to remain in her own place for several additional years prior to her placement at the Manor. She was a dear and loyal friend to my sister Boots. She also provided loving care for several years to my neices’ children, Brennan and Kaleigh. I would always pop in for a visit whenever I was home. One visit stands out. I was home for Clifford Dornig’s funeral in the winter of 2016. Shirley was recovering from hip replacement surgery but aired not a single complaint. She kept repeatedly apologizing for not being able to feed me because of her limited mobility. We laughed and reminisced about days of yore. In the middle of it all she interrupted the flow to say “ your burthday’s Oct 21st, right?” I was floored that she would remember that. All this to say your mom was one of a kind, the mold has been broken. My heart goes out to your family in this time of incredible loss.
