Arthur Daniel Brown was born on January 26, 1933; he died peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Glace Bay General Hospital at the age of 85. He previously resided at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.
He was born and raised in Glace Bay to Bernard and Effie Brown (nee MacIntosh).
He was employed by Modern City Dairy for over 27 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay. He had a deep love of music and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing at many family parties and functions. Dad will always be remembered for his quick wit and the love for his family. Mom and Dad lived their dream in the home they built themselves in Mira Gut.
Dad is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Olive (Crocker) Brown, sons, Keith (Cheryl), Sydney; Blair (Gerardette), River Ryan, daughters, Cathy (Wayne Martin), Nanaimo, BC and Lisa (Brian Walsh), Glace Bay.
Also surviving are brothers, Bobby (Linda), Nanaimo, BC, Donald, (Sydney), Rohn (Diane) Nanaimo, BC, sisters, Loretta Muttart, PE and Edna Boutilier, Glace Bay, daughter-in-law, Sharon Matheson, Glace Bay; sisters-in-law, Sandra Brown, Muriel Brown, Frances Brown; 15 Grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by his friend and brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Elizabeth Crocker, Mira, sisters-in law, Jeanette Wagg, Debbie Lockwood (Dan) and Donna Babstock.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, son, Shane, granddaughter, Danielle, brothers, Roland (Freda), Jimmy, Paddy (Marilyn), Alex; sisters, Eleanor Gouthro and Rita MacDonald.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening, October 26th, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, October 27th, 2018 from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Rev. Ruby Carter officiating. Interment in St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, Glace Bay.
