Just a note of sympathy to the family of Mrs. Lamey. We were neighbours of George and Lorraine and thought fondly of them. Take Care

Dear Lamey/Ratchford Families, I want to express my deepest regrets on the loss of your mother and grandmother. My Father, Freddie, spoke highly of the Ratchford and Lamey family’s, especially with such a tight-nit community in New Victoria in those days and with he and his brothers/sisters going to school with your mother and all her siblings. May God bless and comfort you all during this difficult time.

Anita and family, I am sorry for your loss. As other 'spring pigs' have stated I spent a lot of time at your house. Your parents always made me feel right at home. I often think of you and the mischief we got into. Do you remember us going to visit your grandmother and then mine? They also welcomed us ...and often with food and a bit of money to light candles at the church. My thoughts are with you today...Eve

To:Anita and all the Ratchfords/Lamey family:
Dear Anita: Evelyn and I were sorry to learn of Lorraine's recent passing, and send along our condolences and sympathy to you and all the family. As you know, the Ratchfords were very much part of growing up in New Victoria,as fellow 'spring'Pigs'
Guy and Tina's place was the gathering place for us young gaffers under the guidance of the very witty and smart Guy,who was always quick to staighten us out when we strayed too far from 'normal'(which was likely more often than not) and of course Tina's motherly kind interventions were always appreciated, when she felt guy was being overly hard on us,not sure we was right but we gladly accepted the reprieve.Lorraine was a lot like Tina and she was also on my 'Sunday Visitor'paper route and always had time for a doorstep chat and kindness with a 'tip' as well, didn't get many of those back then...Those and a flood of fond memories come to mind and which I'm sure you all have a large supply of her humorous stories to keep her memory alive and pass along to the younger Ratchfords and Lameys.
Love to all,
Jack(Bubbles)

Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Georgie were the most helpful and generous people in my life. When Da was away with our family vehicle he let me use a little car that he was fixing up for Anita to get to work. When I came home because I was turned down for student aid to go to St. Mary's they found me a job. When her brother Billie (my Dad) didn't have work she suddenly needed her house painted. When my younger brother was in need of work George would get him to help him with a project or two.Lorraine always had some tree pruning or yard work when Sheldon was in between jobs. One time my Dad had no work for a long time and had an interview for a job in Halifax. He brought up a pair of suit pants for Aunt Lorraine to hem and when he picked them up there was money in the pocket to get through the week plus a ham in the bag for the family. She was a true christian and the best Aunt. She passed away peacefully after a long ordeal of health issues.RIP Aunt Lorraine!
