It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Nancy Young, age 72, on Friday, November 30th, 2018 at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Glace Bay and a long time resident of Dominion, Helen was the daughter of the late Robert and Sophie (Phillips) Stubbert of Gardiner Mines.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Nancy Young (Chris) MacDonald, grandsons, Noah and Riley MacDonald, sister, Jenny (Jim) Edwards, brothers, John, Ivan (Diane), George, and Gilbert Stubbert, nieces, Hazel Gosbee Rudderham, Leona Gosbee, and nephews Lonnie, Billy, and Jack Gosbee.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Bernie Young, sister, Eileen Whalen and brothers, Steven, Melvin and Robert Stubbert.
We would like express our sincere gratitude to GP, Dr. Jill Robertson, Dr. Colin McWilliams, and Registered Nurse, Hillary MacNeil of the Halifax Infirmary for the compassionate care provided.
Helen was a wonderful, kindhearted, funny, artistic person and she will be dearly missed.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening December 6th from 7 to 9 pm followed by a funeral service on Friday at 11 a.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Rev. Ruby Carter officiating. Interment in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Centerville Street.
A luncheon will take place at Reserve Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club. Memorial donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
