Obituary of Rosella Juliette Murphy, Glace Bay

Rosella Murphy

Glace Bay

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rosella Murphy, age 83, on December 14th, 2018 at Seaview Manor where she resided for the past 3 years.

Rosella was born in Reserve Mines to the late Thomas and Angeline (Burnet) McDonald.

Rosella was a devoted member of St. Anne’s parish, Glace Bay. She was also a member of the Carmelites, an organization that gave her a lot of spiritual satisfaction. She had a great sense of humour, and always had a witty remark ready. The most rewarding job Rosella had was being a stay at home mother, and helping to raise her five grandchildren. Our mom was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Family was everything to her, and spending time with them was her favourite past time.

Rosella is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Patrick) Power, New Waterford, and son Malcolm Murphy (Amy), Glace Bay. She will be sadly missed by her five grandchildren, Jonathon, Brianne, Alisha, Alana, Jordan, and her four great grandchildren.

Also surviving are her sisters, Annie, Glace Bay, Catherine (Dave), Halifax, Germaine (Larry), Glace Bay, brothers, Raymond, Halifax, Edmond, Halifax and Tommy, Glace Bay; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Edmond Murphy, sisters, Antoinette, Rose, Hannah, Julia, Angeline, Mary and her brother, Anthony.

The family would like to thank the staff of Seaview Manor, Glace Bay for the beautiful and loving care they gave to Rosella during her 3 years there.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
