Obituary of Daniel "Donnie" Wiseman, Glace Bay

Donnie Wiseman, age 76 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.  

Donnie, born August 31, 1942 grew up in Bridgeport, Glace Bay, the son of the late John Will and Mary (MacIntyre) Wiseman.

He was a graduate of St. Michael’s High School and St. F.X.  University, and a teacher by profession having taught at Holy Cross, Bridgeport and Sterling school. Donnie was an active member of St. Anne and St. Anthony’s choirs.

Donnie was a man of profound faith. He lived for his children. Donnie talked to everyone and had a comic humorous side. He loved to sing and sang louder than anyone in church. He also loved to walk. Donnie was as good as gold, pure hearted.

He is survived by his wife, Bernadette (Buckley), children, Dr. Daniele Wiseman (Bill Maxwell),London, Ont., Bradley Wiseman, Glace Bay, and Christian (Wendy) Wiseman, Bermuda, as well as five grandchildren (Lauren, Nate, Zoe, Nic, and Bram); brothers William (Margaret), Saint John, N.B., James, Broome’s Island, Md., sisters, Theresa Gertrude Nutter, Raleigh, N.C., Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Cy) Doucette, Woodstock, N.B., Joan (William) Gillis, Halifax, N.S. and June (Robert) Thomas, Dartmouth, N.S.

He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, John Joseph “Bob” in 1971, and George Gregory in 2000. 

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception and interment in the parish cemetery. Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating.

Memorial donations in memory of Donnie may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, Holy Cross Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
