It is with great sorrow we, the family of Geraldine Teresa Phillips, age 72 announce her passing on Monday January 21, 2019 at the Glace Bay Hospital with her family by her side.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Julia (Mercer) McNeil.

Geraldine was a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Jeannie), David (Shawna); sisters, Monica (Lawson) MacDonald, Rose (Archie) Gillis, Louise, Barb (Greg) Shea, Eileen (Late Wayne) Axworthy; brothers, Barry (Daria) McNeil, and Harold McNeil; brother- in- law, Frank (Chris) Phillips, Gary (Gen) Phillips and sister -in -law , Debbie Phillips. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany and Braeden. There’s a hole that can never be filled.

Beside her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her love, Stevie Phillips.

We cannot express our gratitude enough for all that helped to make her days better.

Thanks to the V.O.N. and to the Newfoundland ladies, Sandra, Melvina, Gloria. Also to Dr. James MacLean, Dr.D'intino and all that went above and beyond, we will be forever grateful.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A funeral mass of celebration will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 in St. Anne’s Church at 10 am with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating.  A luncheon will follow in the church foyer. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
