Ann (Wilson) Nickelo

Glace Bay

Ann Nickelo, age 82 of Glace Bay passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Glace Bay Hospital with her family by her side.

Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Mary (Downing)Wilson.

In her earlier years Ann was employed at the Glace Bay Hotel and Dan Gillis Grocery Store. She was an avid cat lover and also had a passion for crocheting. But mostly, Ann will be remembered as a devoted mother and wife. Family was very important to her and raising and taking care of her two boys was top priority.

She is survived by her two sons, Peter Vincent (Joan), Shubenacadie, NS, James Ervin (Nadia), Lakeshore, Ontario, three sisters, Catherine Bettens (Jackie), Glace Bay, Joan MacPherson, Calgary, Paula Ryan (Terry), Fredericton, NB, three brothers, Dave (Marguerite), Massachusetts, John (Sheila), Florida and Alan (Delores) Wilson, Glace Bay.

Ann will be sadly missed by her six grandchildren, Peter Alexander (Heidi), Geoffrey Francis (Jasmine), Laura Ann (Nathan), Sarah Marie, Aidan James, Dylan Carl, two great grandchildren, Ashton Chester, Peter Declan and nephews and nieces.

Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by her husband, Peter Nickelo in July of 2018.

A private service and reception will be held in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel and Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment at a later date.
