Jane “Jenny” Burke

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jane ‘Jenny” Burke, age 97 on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the CBRH, Sydney.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Edith (Jeans) Mullins.

Jenny was a member of St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. She was a well liked, easy going and kind lady who loved her family dearly.

Jenny is survived by one daughter, Leona Landru, two sons, David (Patricia), John (Margaret), two grandsons, Ryan, David (Sharlene), one granddaughter, Jessica (Daniel), two great grandchildren, Logan, Lilly, her sister, Carmel and several nieces and nephews.

Jenny was predeceased by her husband Johnnie Burke in 1978, four sisters, Agatha, Edna, Lena, Dorothy and three brothers, Larry, Fred and Edward.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 8th at 11 a.m.  in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Fr. Duaine Devereaux presiding. Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nursing staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Palliative Care, Forest Haven, McGillivray Funeral Home and all those who phoned or made a memorial donation to palliative care.
