It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother.

Catherine MacKenzie gentle passed away at the age of 101 with her family at her side on February 23rd, 2019 at the Hamilton Ontario General Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Peter and Pauline MacDonald.

She was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Alex MacKenzie. She will join her 3 beautiful children, Todd MacKenzie, Lorna Burns and Dolores Brophy in heaven.  

Catherine will be sadly missed by her son, Blennie MacKenzie and daughters, Diane (Neil) Clark, Ontario and Silvia (Stanley) MacQueen, Ontario.

Also surviving are sisters, Jen, Annabelle, Florence, Mildred, Macy and Mooney, brothers, Jim, Shawna, Greg and Malcolm.  

Catherine loved and cherished her 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 25th, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, followed by a procession to MacLeod's Crossing Cemetery for interment. Fr. Duaine Devereaux presiding.
