Obituary of Frank Rudolph 'Musky' Horwath, New Waterford
It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Frank Rudolph 'Musky' Horwath, 95, of New Waterford on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Born in Scotchtown, he was a son of the late Frank and Martha (Klinger) Horwath.
Frank was a coal miner who started in No. 16 Colliery, moved to 18 and retired at No. 12 after 33 years of hard, dedicated work. He was a faithful member of the former St. Michael's Parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. Frank was an avid gardener and had a passion for camping, bicycling, walking and skating. The love he shared with his children and grandchildren will forever be cherished.
Surviving are daughter, Brenda Morin, New Waterford; sons, Robert (Susan) Horwath, Lingan, Brian (Cindy) Horwath, New Waterford; sister, Elizabeth 'Betty' (Bernie) Dervin, Ottawa; grandchildren, Kim Kolchetski, Craig Morin, Jill Horwath, Frank Horwath, and Kirstie Horwath; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Evan, Brady, Ainsley, Spencer, Fletcher, Blaize, Lucy, Millie and Reenie.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his wife, Bernadette (O'Hearn) and brothers, Peter, Louis, and Walter 'Butch'.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass of celebration will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan, with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
