Urban McNeil

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Urban McNeil, age 74 of Albert Bridge on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit, CBRH, Sydney.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Barbara (McDonald) McNeil of Dominion.

Urban was employed with Devco for many years. He was known as a very quiet and reserved man. While living in Glace Bay he was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Urban volunteered at the Savoy and was a former board member at the Credit Union and Savoy Theatre, Glace Bay. He enjoyed playing guitar and was a great handy man.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Lee (McEachern) McNeil, brothers, Stan (Na), Eddie (Rayleen), sister, Marjorie Beaton, brother in law, John McEachern and sister in law, Chris Sampson. Urban will be sadly missed by his special friends, Rebecca Clarke, his god daughter, River, many friends and neighbors of Island View Lane, Mira.

Urban was predeceased by his parents, father and mother in law, Angus and Clara McEachern and brothers in law, Dave Beaton, Allan, Alex and Frank McEachern.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A  memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, in Bridgeport. After the celebration of mass, please join us downstairs  where a light lunch will be served.
