Obituary of Margaret Lucy MacKinnon, New Waterford

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Margaret Lucy MacKinnon on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.

Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Florence (MacLennan) Poirier.

Margaret was a happy, loving, sweet, family-oriented, God loving person who wanted to see everybody successful and happy in life. 

Surviving are children, Terry (Toni) MacKinnon, April Gilmour and Chuckie (Stephanie) MacKinnon; grandchildren, Shelly, Tommy, Celina, Chantel, Christopher, Emily and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Aubrey, Henley, Bentley, Colbey, Reia, and Janson; brother, Raymond; sisters, Julia Peters and Brenda Mahon; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by sisters, June Pasher, Mary Lucas; brothers, Peter and Steve; nephews, Russell and Georgie Pasher.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Homes, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating.
