Joan Height, 82 of Sydney N.S., passed away peacefully on July 24, 2019, at her home on Tillock Drive, Sydney.

Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late David and Florence (Ledger) Young.

Joan served in the military for a number of years and then went onto graduate from St. Xavier University; she was a former residence of Wood Ave, New Waterford, She was an Activity Director at Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford for many years and later at the Cape Breton Hospital using her nursing skills in the Mental Health Unit. She also enjoyed reading and was a very artistic person.

Joan is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sisters, Vickey Bruton and Irene Nigerian.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.

Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
