Obituary of Donna Agnes Jewer, New Waterford

Donna Agnes (Walker) Jewer, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a brief battle with cancer.

Donna was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Gwendolyn (Gouthro) Walker and Bernard Walker.

She was employed at Sobeys in New Waterford for 21 years until her retirement. Donna had a love for traveling and would go south several times a year with Darren. Donna also enjoyed spending most of her days with all her grandchildren. In earlier years, she was an avid bingo player and enjoyed a good game of darts. 

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Darren and two loving sons, Bernie and Justin (Roberta), both of whom she was very proud of. She adored her five grandchildren, Coady, Lucas, Mckayla, Taylor and Peyton Jewer. Donna also leaves behind her sisters, Bernice (Tommy) Rockett, Northside East Bay, Linda (Johnny) Bisson, New Waterford; brothers, Billy (Tracey) Walker and Kevin (Amanda) Walker, New Waterford. 

Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law, Sherry (Robert) Burke, Lisa Jewer (John); brother-in-law, Shane Jewer and many nieces and nephews. Donna leaves behind her precious dog, Barney, who was her company while Darren worked away. 

A special thank you to the Cancer Centre (Dr. Saliba), the paramedics and staff of New Waterford Hospital, namely Dr. Lowry, for their care and compassion. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass of celebration will take place Saturday, August 10 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
