Anna MacKinnon of Donkin passed away on Wednesday, August 14th, 2019 at home.
Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (McGillivary) McNabb.
Anna was once employed at Ellsworth Flower Shop, Glace Bay. She loved gardening, playing darts and sitting on her swing with her morning tea. Anna was a member of the RCL/ Branch 5 Mixed Dart League, Donkin and was well known for her kindness, gentle ways and her big smile. She loved animals, especially her dog, Cujo and her two cats, Baby and Jasper. But mostly, Anna will be remembered as a loving person who cared deeply for her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gerald MacKinnon, one daughter, Carla Penson (John), Donkin, son, Allan (Dawn) and her sister, Teresa McIsaac, both in Ontario.
Anna is survived by her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Brendan MacKinnon (Ainslie), Breanna Penson (James), Madison and Mitchell MacKinnon and the 5th grandchild on the way. Also surviving are her beautiful great grandchildren, Harper and Maisie MacKinnon.
Besides her parents, Anna was predeceased by a daughter in infancy, three brothers, Jim, John, Francie, one sister, Betty Deveaux, special niece, Wendy McIsaac and her mother in law, Veronica MacKinnon who was like a mother to Anna.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service for Anna will be held on Monday, August, 19th at 11 a.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. A reception will follow the service at the RCL, Branch 5, Donkin.
