Obituary of Marie Emilie Carrigan
It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Marie Carrigan, 93, of New Waterford on September 8, 2016 at the Maple Hill Manor.
Born in Belgium, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Eugenie (LeMaire) DeWaepenaere.
Marie was a woman of strong faith who cared deeply about her family.
Surviving are daughters Patricia 'Pat' (Art) Hogan, New Waterford, Diane (Colin) Kennedy, Antigonish; sons, Rick (Val) Carrigan, New Waterford, Mike (Sherry) Carrigan, Fort McMurray; son-in-law Johnny MacNeil, Sydney; sister-in-law Etta (Wally) Head, New Waterford; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Marie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Bsides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband John Joseph Carrigan; son Bob and daughter-in-law Marg Carrigan; daughter Marie MacNeil; grandchildren Michael and Sean Hogan; sister Germaine (Victor) Tourneur; brothers Gus (Ellen) and George (Adaline).
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12 from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford. Family flowers only.
