Obituary of Stanley 'Creepers' MacDonald, New Waterford

Stanley 'Creepers' MacDonald, 91, passed away peacefully at Castleview Wychwood Towers in Toronto on  Aug.31, 2019, with his sister, Rita, praying for God to hold him in the palm of his hand.

Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late John Malcom and Martha MacDonald.

Creepers was a very devoted son, brother, uncle, friend, and Union man. In Toronto, he was an active member of Holy Family Parish and devoted his time to serve meals at St. Vincent Table Society. On his many trips home, he attended Mass at St. Leonard's and the former Mount Carmel Parishes. He will be fondly remembered and greatly loved for his myriad acts of kindness. Stanley worked in No.18 Mine, New Victoria. In 1947, due to economic conditions and a strike, Stanley moved to Toronto and was employed at Massey Ferguson, where, as member of their union, worked for great working conditions and benefits.

In Toronto, Stanley is survived by his sister, Rita Davis and in New Waterford, his sister, Jean.

Besides his parents, Stanley was predeceased by brothers, Alex, Duddie, Joe, Raymond, Davie, Robbie and sisters, Tiny and Emily Cathcart.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass of celebration will take place Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, Wilson Avenue, New Waterford, where Creepers was an Associate Member. Donations in his memory may be made to the Parish Church of St. Leonard or a charity of one's choice. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.

May Stanley Rest in Peace.
