Obituary of Charlene Patricia Golemiec, Glace Bay

Charlene Golemiec, age 60 of Glace Bay, passed away on Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney with her family by her side.

Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late James “Jimmy the Barber” and Mary (Murphy) MacPherson.

Charlene worked for many years at Canadian Tire Store and Supportive Living, Glace Bay. She was a member of the Free-Wheelin Motorcycle Association. Charlene enjoyed gardening, baking cookies, cross stitching and playing cards on Sunday. She was a woman who truly enjoyed life.

She is survived by her partner, Ross MacLeod, one daughter, Angela Eagles, Glace Bay, two sons, Brent (Amy), Edmonton, Brian, Fort Saskatchewan, four sisters, Shirley Earle (Andrew “Boo”), Jean MacDonald (Allan-deceased), Alice MacPherson, all in New Waterford, Bernadine Burton (Don), Margaree and one brother, Gibby “The Champ” (Darlene) MacPherson, New Waterford. Charlene is also survived by two grandchildren, Tristen, Brady and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Besides her parents, Charlene was predeceased by her sister, Viola McKay.

Visitation is Sunday, November 10th, from 2- 5 p.m. only in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Duaine Devereaux will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay followed by a reception in the church foyer. Cremation to follow with burial at a later date in Margaree.
