To misquote Winston Churchill "My mother was ready to meet her maker but was he ready to meet her?" After 98 years of love, laughter and caring, marred by periods of tragedy and loss, she passed away quietly on Dec 21. She was a woman ahead of her times: courageous, independent, strong willed and determined. Fortified by these characteristics (and on occasion a cast iron poker and a stiff glass of whiskey- straight up) she backed down from no one and and took no guff from people or organizations. She was devoted to and gave all to her children and often said she was blessed to have experienced the love of two good men. I in turn was blessed to have had her examples to guide my younger years. Any time I have been faced with an important decision I recalled her words. After offering her sound advice she would look me in the eyes and say "Just remember, if you burn your ass it's you who has to to sit on the blisters." So far I have been fortunate to avoid such a fate. Thank you Mom, love you always.
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,- Tennyson

I only met "Nanny" once but had heard many stories about her from her granddaughter Kathy. She was lovely lady and what I would describe as feisty. Rest in peace and look after those who you have left behind.

My dear Catherine,
When we met it was all laughs. Your kind heart letting me in your home for a summer with your Kathy. We had so much fun. You cracked jokes, you showed us you had quick wit and you said what was on your mind. You stayed true to that right to the end. Your strength, your kindness and wisdom along with humor and a little sass will carry on in your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
May you rest in piece little angle your work is done.
My heart is with the family at this time.
Sincerely yours
Carrie Sisco
