It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Gallivan, age 79, on Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Edward and Rita (Roach) Gallivan.
Kevin worked as a mechanic for Devco in the coal wash plant. He was a member of Holy Cross Church. Kevin enjoyed working on cars, especially transmissions.
In his earlier years he loved driving his motorcycle. He was a very quiet and kindhearted person who enjoyed life and always enjoyed being around people.
Kevin is survived by his friend and companion, Hector Deveaux, godson, Russell McVicar; cousins, Alma (Leonard) Aucoin, Sydney, Tom (Iris) Roach, Antigonish, Mary Cooke, Sydney, Betty (Don) Burgoyne ,Sydney, Marie (John C. ) Campbell, Sydney and his fur baby, Princess.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday,January 8th, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Thursday at 2 p.m. and a reception, all in V.J McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel and Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. Cremation to follow. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
