Obituary of Ellen "Helen" Peach, Donkin
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Helen Peach, age 87 on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late Aaron and Hilda (Brooks) Hatfield. Helen was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Port Morien.
The most important thing to our mother was her family and visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to knit, read and especially, bake; which she gladly shared with everybody. Helen devoted most of her life looking after the love of her life, her husband, Melvin Peach of 67 years.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Heather MacDonald (Mike), son, Kenny Peach (Wendy), grandchildren, Shaun (Meagan) MacDonald, Port Morien, John (Shauna) MacDonald, Edmonton, Troy MacDonald (Sara), Halifax, Noelle Peach, Vancouver, three great grandchildren, Madison, Mia and Aidan and her fur baby, Maggie.
She will also be sadly missed by her best friend, Lillian Legrow, whom she loved dearly, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Melvin, son, Lloyd, brother, Leslie (Jenny) Hatfield and a sister, Margaret (Gordon) Peach.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside prayers will be held at a later date in St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery, Port Caledonia.
We the family would like to thank the 911 Operator, Paramedics and staff at the E.R. Dept. (CBRH) Sydney, for all the support and kindness.
