Obituary of Roy Moore, Glace Bay

THE FUNERAL SERVICE SCHEDULED FOR ROY ON FRIDAY AT 11 AM HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SATURDAY, FEBRUARY, 8TH AT 11 AM IN THE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Roy William Moore, age 71 on Sunday, February 2nd, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Robert and Eva (Campbell) Moore. Roy was a member of Epworth United Church, Glace Bay. He was a long time employee of Modern Co-op. Roy was an avid hockey fan of the Screaming Eagles and Toronto Maple Leafs. He played many sports over the years which included soccer, broomball, hockey, baseball, floor hockey and bowling. Roy loved watching movies or playing a good game of cards. He enjoyed his time camping in Ben Eoin. Roy will be remembered as a very hard worker and a compassionate man. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Doretta (Dunlop) Moore, daughters, Tammy Youden (John), Sherry Moore (Jonathan) and his son, Kyle Moore (Samantha), sisters, Bernice, Beatrice and brothers, Cecil and Johnny. Roy is also survived by his six grandchildren, Haley, Declan, Madison, Brady, Emma and Ethan, whom he loved to the moon and back. Visitation is Thursday, February 6th from 2-4, 7-9 pm followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH AT 11 AM, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.
