Theresa Macdonald, New Waterford

Obituary of Theresa Margaret Macdonald, New Waterford

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful sister, Theresa Margaret Macdonald on Sunday March 1st, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. T, as she was affectionately called, was born in New Waterford on April 23, 1952. She was the daughter of the late Colin Andrew Campbell and Nellie Mae (Hawley) Campbell. She was one of 13 children. Theresa was a devoted member of Mount Carmel Parish, now the Parish Church of Saint Leonard, where she was a dedicated choir member for many years. She attended Mount Carmel School and later trained to be a Medical Secretary. She teamed up with her husband, Dr. Clive Macdonald, at his office where she was entirely devoted to their patients. She was a ferocious reader and loved to share her books. She had a gift for writing personal letters. T was crazy for C.B.C. Radio and sports and she loved her daily walks with her sister, Kay. She had an enormous love for dance, whether it be jive, square or step dancing, but developed a special love for line dancing where she made lasting friendships. Theresa loved nature and the great outdoors. She was a dedicated member of the Nova Scotia Bird Society with her late husband where they were avid bird watchers. Theresa leaves behind her siblings, Colleen (Joe, deceased) Piccolo, John (Patricia) Campbell, Kay (James) Hogan, Brian (Theresa ) Campbell, Anne (Cyril) Boudreau, Nellie “Sister Twin” (Dr. Jeff, deceased) Chung, Charles (Florence) Campbell, Michael (Lynnann) Campbell, Colin (Michelle Spencer) Campbell, Patsy (Brian) MacSween, Bradley (Linda) Campbell and her sisters-in-law, Mary Campbell and Ione Macdonald. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved to spend time with and rarely missed an occasion. She will be especially missed by her niece, Laurette, who she so affectionately called “Daughter”. T will also be dearly missed by her many close cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 20 years, Dr. Clive Macdonald, as well as her brother, Angus Campbell. Theresa will be missed for her love, compassion, kindness, knowledge sharing and her flare for style. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, March 5, from 6-9 pm at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home. 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Ray Huntley, will take place Friday, March 6, at 10 am in the Parish Church of Saint Leonard. Reception to follow at the K.O.C. Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford. Family Flowers only. Donations in Theresa’s memory can be made to Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or the Cape Breton Cancer Center. Online condolences can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca. Thanks T, for teaching us to “Keep it Simple” and “Acceptance is Peace”.
