Obituary of Richard J. Scott, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Joseph Scott, 54, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on March 27, 2020. Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Joseph and Sadie (McCarthy) Scott. Richard worked for Sobeys for 30 years. He was well respected for his work ethic and skills, where he made many friends creating lifetime friendships. Richard was an avid golfer and fan of the Boston Bruins. He loved sitting around the pool listening to music with friends. Richard is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Melissa (Cadden) of 27 years; his pride and joy, his son, Joey (Lyssa), New Waterford and Gavin Helle -Connell, who we think of as a son; brother, Darrell; sister, Cathy (Gary), B.C.; mother-in-law, Carole Cadden; sister-in-law, Michelle Peckham (Emil), N.B.; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; one special cousin, Ron Hawboldt, whom he thought of as a brother; extended family who Richard loved dearly; the Racki's, the Connell's, the McCarthy's and the Dupe's. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Larry and John; father-in-law, Robert 'Bobby' Cadden. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 1-3 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.
