Obituary of Web Woodland

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Web Woodland, 78, of New Waterford, on September 29, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Web worked as a coal miner for 37 years in Nos. 12, 16, 18 and Lingan Colliery. He then went on to drive taxi for several years with Service Taxi, Kim's and Midway. Web loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. Surviving are daughters Valerie (Doug) Woodland-MacLeod, Ashley (Josh) Woodland-Helle, Sherry Woodland; sons, Malkie (Leslie) Woodland, Wilbur 'Web' Jr. (Kelly) Woodland, Blair Woodland, Clifford (Sharon) Woodland; Willie MacLeod, whom he regarded as a son, all of New Waterford; grandchildren Ashley MacLeod, Chantel, Brittney, Joshua, Brody, Brea, Andrew, Donald, Dean, Dalton, Angie, Pam, and April; many great-grandchildren. Web was predeceased by his wife Ellen Elizabeth 'Betty' Woodland; mother, Lillian Schofield; grandparents Eli and Bessie Woodland; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Gouthro. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bruce DeYoung officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
