Obituary of Anna Adelaide Cameron, New Waterford

It is with deep sadness we share the sad news that on the morning of April 8, 2020, our Mom succumbed to her battle with Dementia at the age of 83. After two long years, she earned her wings and is now home at peace with her true love, Alex. She is the daughter of the late Frank 'Ziggy' and Louise Oursin of Sydney. Beloved by her family, Anna could usually be found reading, doing crosswords or attending mass at St. Leonard's Parish. She will be remembered by all as a loving mother and doting grandmother who always had a bit of a mischievous prankster streak. Although it's been a few years, she loved to dress up and go out dancing. Mom was known for her baking and nobody could turn down her apple or blueberry pies. Her passion for writing and the love of animals and senior needs led to some of her articles being published in the Community Press and the Cape Breton Post. Anna is survived by her sons, Alex, Toronto, Glen (Kelly), Boston; daughters, Patricia Gillis and Margaret Boudreau, both of New Waterford; grandchildren, Christopher and Meagan Boudreau, both of Edmonton, David Gillis, Calgary, Mark Gillis, New Waterford, Chad, Connor, and Cole Cameron, all of Boston; sisters, Theresa Tubrett, Jeanie Briand; brothers Frank 'Bucky' and David Oursin, all of Sydney and her cat, Mitzy. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Alex Cameron and her brothers, Ernie and Roy Oursin of Sydney. Special mention to her lifelong friend, Mary Poirier and to Father Ray Huntley of St. Leonard's Parish. On behalf of Anna's family, a sincere thank you to Dr. Littlejohn, Dr Azer and Dr. Hall, the staff on the second floor of the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital and Harbourstone where she resided for the past year. Our deepest gratitude to the staff at Fisherman's Cove who were wonderful and attentive to our Mom's needs; a task made all the more difficult in these trying times. We love you Mom. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Due to the current circumstances, a Funeral Mass will be held in the Parish Church of St. Leonard at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA, Cape Breton Shelter or the Parish Church of St. Leonard. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
