Obituary of James Garfield "Jim" MacLeod, Glace Bay

James “Jim” MacLeod, age 93 passed away peacefully at the CBRH, Sydney on Thursday, May 28th, 2020. Born in Glace Bay, Jim was the last son of the late Daniel “Dan” James and Ellen (Burton) MacLeod of Howe Street. Jim was a very loving and quiet soul. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Rose (Asselin) MacLeod, two daughters, Sandra (Ronnie) MacSween, (Alberta), Raylene (Billy) MacEachern, (Calgary), grandchildren, Jessie & Tom Dobie, Josh, Anisley, (Alberta), Kelly & Darryl Benson, (Calgary) and Jeff & Allison, (Russia). Also surviving are great grandchildren, Eve, Hannah, Kiera, Caleb and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by siblings, Georgina, Margaret, Murray, Billy, Lal, Cassie, Blanche, Allan James and John Anthony. A special thank you to all the staff and Glenna MacKillop who made his day at Fisherman’s Cove, Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney as well as Seaview Manor staff, Glace Bay and the doctors and nurses at Palliative Care, CBRH, Sydney. A big thank you to Jim’s nephew, Wilfred “Wilf” Ogilvie and his niece, Sandra MacKillop for all their care and support. Cremation has taken place with burial to be held at a later date in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
