Obituary of Robert Malcolm Yorke

Robert Malcolm 'Bubba" Yorke, age 56 of Dominion, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 8, 2016 with his best friends, Zoe and Chloe, "His furbabies", by his side. Born and raised in Glace Bay, he moved to Ontario 32 years ago. His wish was to return home and live the rest of his life with his wife in Cape Breton. He got to fulfill that dream and lived in Dominion for the last year. Robert worked at Quadro Engineering in Waterloo, Ontario for 23 years. He enjoyed working with his hands, spending time with his family and friends, riding his motorcycle and playing a good game of cards. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Ann (Kostanjevec) Yorke, one son, Shannon Maidment, one daughter, Angie Burchell, six grandchildren, five sisters, Doris Yorke-Gilmet (Rod), Joyce Zehr (Chuck), Brenda Dunlop (Brian), Mary Blackmore (Murray), Rita Yorke (Les), two brothers, Lloyd (Cheryl) Yorke, Shawn Yorke, aunts, uncles, cousins and many nieces and nephews. When Robert’s nephew, Jim Bob moved away from home, Robert became a very important role model to him, almost like a second father. He will be missed dearly. Robert will be sadly missed by his lifelong friend and motorcycle riding buddy, Cecil, his loving in laws and their spouses who were very close to him throughout his lifetime. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Francis Steven and Laura (Cluett) Yorke as well as two brothers, Buddy and Johnny Yorke. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 13 at 6 p.m. in Newsom Hall, Glace Bay. On line condolences to the family can be expressed at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca
