Obituary of Leonard "Big Lenny" Lynk, Glace Bay

Leonard Lynk “Big Lenny” age 69 of 21 Second Street, Glace Bay passed away on Wednesday, June 17th, 2020 at home surrounded by those who loved him most. Born in New Waterford, Lenny was the son of the late Russell and Gloria (Manzine) Lynk. Lenny was a quiet, honest man who worked hard alongside his wife all their life. They owned their own taxi business for many years in Glace Bay. Lenny was well known in Glace Bay. In his younger years he was often found on the baseball field playing with the Caledonia Rows. He loved to fish and hunt with his kids as well as his best friend, Joseph Ogley. Lenny and his wife Sheila have been married for almost 48 years and spent all of their time together. Anyone who knew them always said they were “attached at the hip”. They always gave a kiss goodnight and never went to bed angry. They were the definition of true soul mates. Besides his parents, Lenny was predeceased by his brothers, Barry and Rodger Lynk and his sister, Kay Noakes. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sheila (Deane) Lynk, daughters, Alison and Natalie Lynk ( David), sons, Damon Lynk (Samantha), Lenny Lynk (Ashley ), grandchildren, Trent , Markus, Keagen, Kyle, Keeva, Landon, Italia , Gianna and Nathan . Also surviving is one great granddaughter, Braelynn, his sisters, Karen Eavis (Phil), Judy Holloway (Boyed), Gloria MacDonnell (Nick), Donna White (Terry), Mary McVicar (Byron), brothers, Russell Lynk, Alex Lynk (Josie), Charles Lynk (Mary) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
