I was born and raised in Reserve Mines. During high school I worked pumping gas and doing oil changes at Dannie's Service Station. I remember Joe coming in with his BMW motorcycle and I also remember them building his white dune buggy. I graduated RDHS in June of 1969 and had a Honda 150 Dream motorcycle. One day, while talking to Joe about my planned career path in engineering, he offered to let me drive the BMW. I took it and drove to MacKay's Corner and back. I was very impressed that he would let me, a 19 year old, drive such a nice motorcycle. To this day, that is the only BMW bike I have driven.
A very nice memory for sure.

The greatest man I ever had the pleasure to learn from. Survived by James Joseph and Darren Joseph Blades. A true honor to carry his name.
