Obituary of Violet Kaloc, River Ryan

Violet (Susie) Kaloc River Ryan It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and sister, Violet, age 74 on August 28, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Aloysius and Pearl (Burke) McIsaac of Lingan. Susie was a member of the Parish Church of St. Leonard’s and of the former St. Michael’s Church. She dedicated her time helping with the Annual Fall Fair, teaching religion classes and as a Eucharistic Minister. She also volunteered her time canvassing for the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Fund and the Canadian Cancer Society. A devoted wife and mother, Susie spent much of her days spoiling her husband and daughter and took great pride in all that they did. Son-in -law, Chris, held a special place in her heart and she reminded Nicole daily how lucky she was to have him in her life. She loved spending time with all her family and friends, especially her weekly visits with her family in Lingan and her road trips with her sisters. Susie was a very thoughtful, kind person who always remembered every special occasion and celebration. She had a soft spot for all the family dogs, especially her favorite, Sheba, making sure she had a pocket full of treats where ever she went. Susie displayed a great sense of humour, enjoying a good joke or prank, and enjoyed starting her day reading the morning newspaper with a ‘great cup of tea’. She was employed with the former New Waterford Quality Store for many years where she made lifelong friends, as well as babysitting children in her home. Susie is survived by her husband, Albert, their daughter, Nicole, and son-in-law, Chris Boyce. She is also survived by five sisters; Rita (Jim) MacDonald, Patsy (Brian) Brown, Darlene (Donnie) Brufatto, Alana McIsaac, all residing in Lingan and Debbie McIsaac (Garry Smith) Windsor, Nova Scotia; and two brothers, Al (Michelle) McIsaac, Lingan, and Kenny (Trude) McIsaac, Bedford; sister-in-law, Shelia (Alfie) McMullin and brother-in-law, Michael (Irene) Kaloc, both of River Ryan and a number of nieces and nephews. A private family visitation will be held in the V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home and Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. (Please respect social distancing regulations and wear a mask while on the funeral home premises). A private funeral mass of celebration will be held in the Parish Church of St. Leonard with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lingan. Donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA.
