Obituary of Dorothy "Micki" MacLean, Glace Bay

Dorothy “Micki” MacLean passed away peacefully on August 28, 2020 at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Margaret Ann (MacDonald) MacLean. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Micki graduated from the Glace Bay General Hospital School of Nursing in 1956. Her nursing career included positions in Boston, Stratford, Amherst and Halifax before she returned to the General Hospital as a nursing supervisor in 1977. She was conscientious, hard-working and displayed her mild-mannerisms to all within the hospital setting. Micki enjoyed traveling, skating, daily walks along Renwick Brook and spending time with her grandnieces and nephews Daniel, Claire, Ellen and John. Micki is survived by her sister, Doda Stewart, St. John’s, NL and brother, Neil MacLean, Halifax. She is also survived by nieces ,Peggy McNeil, Heather MacLean, Karyn Colwell and Margo Hand. She was predeceased by her sister, Hildegarde O’Neill. Thank you to Seaview Manor and the staff of Tidal View for the care and comfort they provided over the past three years. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
