Obituary of Dorothy Mary "Dot" MacLean, Glace Bay

With broken hearts, we the family of Dorothy Mary MacLean regret to announce her passing on September 4th, 2020. Born in Sydney Mines on August 24th 1932, Dorothy “Dot” was the daughter of the late Guy and Sue (Cluett) Cox. Dot enjoyed the simple things in life like watching her favourite game shows daily on television, playing bingo and getting her groceries on Friday. She enjoyed Sunday drives and her summer weekends spent out on the Mira. She was a very independent, strong-willed lady. She had a gift to make people laugh and made many friends on her outings. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, William and James, son-in-law, David White and by her life-long partner, Bernie Murphy. Dorothy leaves behind to mourn, her daughters, Lynn (Kevin) McPhee, Alberta (David -deceased) White, son, Terry (June) MacLean, son, Gary (Michele) Murphy and her daughter, Nancy (Jack) O’Brien. She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Interment will be held in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney-Glace Bay Highway. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Cape Breton Cancer Centre Patient Care Fund.
