Obituary of Basil Eric Stoodley, Glace Bay

Basil Eric Stoodley, age 69 passed away on Sunday, September 13th, 2020 in Glace Bay. Born in a small town in Newfoundland, called Jersey Harbour, Eric as he was known as, was the son of the late Frank and Lillian (Tibbo) Stoodley. Eric was a carpenter by trade and belonged to the Local 1580 Journeymen Carpenter’s Union. He loved being in the woods and truly enjoyed all of nature’s surroundings. Eric was also an avid fisherman. He adored his grandchildren and will be remembered as a quiet and caring man by his family. Eric was survived by his children, their spouses and his grandchildren, they include his son, Eric Thomas and Wendy Stoodley, grandson, Shane, daughter, Lorraine and Danny MacIntosh, granddaughters, Erika and Morgan, daughter, Lana and Ron McNeil and granddaughters, Emily and Jessica and son, Mark and Carrie Stoodley and grandsons, Matthew and Nathan and granddaughter, Sidney. He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Rose (Jack-deceased), Alice Gillis, Maxine Courty (Rome), Linda Bogers (Pierre-deceased) and Marge (Joe), brothers, Albert (Yvonne), Jim (Doreen), Winston (Raylene), Gordon, in laws, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Eric was predeceased by a brother, John, two sisters, Viola Snook and Mabel Hill as well as in laws and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay at a later date.
