Obituary of Margaret Ellen Devison, Glace Bay

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Margaret Devison, 88, of Glace Bay at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on October 10, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Josephine Kennedy, born December 24, 1931. Margaret will be remembered by her family as a loving and hard working Mom who devoted her life caring for others. She provided years of care-giving to her Mom and daughter Gail. She will be remembered by the residents of the Sterling Seniors Complex for her mischievous sense of humour, quick wit and friendship. She will be sadly missed by her extended family and companions at the Complex. Margaret looked forward to her visits on the Mira and a good feed of lobster. She loved her many sleepovers with her grandchildren, especially those on her Christmas Eve birthday. Margaret is survived by her children, Julia (John) Nash of Sydney, Edward (Nancy) Devison of Halifax and Joan (Brent) MacDonald of Sydney. She was happiest spending time with her grandchildren, Lissa (Ryan) Savage, Stephen (Kathleen) Nash, Mitchell Devison, Lindsay Devison and Charnelle (Brandon) MacDonald. She was a special GG to her great-grandchildren, Ruby, Lila, Maddox and Eli who all provided her great joy. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Wood, Alberta and brother James (Anna) Kennedy of Glace Bay/Sydney as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Margaret is predeceased by her beloved daughter, Gail, son, Joseph in infancy, sisters, Marjorie, Elizabeth (Bess), Josephine, Minnie and Julia and brothers Leo (Jake), William, Edward and Clayton. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Unit 4B and Palliative Care., also to Delia and Phyllis for their company and compassion over recent weeks. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne’s Church on Friday, October 16th at 10:00 am with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Interment will take place in St. Anne’s Cemetery. In memory of our Mom please show a special act of kindness to someone who could use one. Memorial donations may be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank or Hospice/Palliative Care.
