Obituary of Neil James Bushnik, Glace Bay

Neil James Bushnik, age 90 of Glace Bay passed away on Wednesday, November 11th, 2020 at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Gillis) Bushnik. Neil was employed for several years as a driller and blaster at Scotia, Mosher and Catalone Limestone Companies, he was also a union president. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay. Neil will be remembered as an easy going gentleman who loved dancing and playing horse shoes. He was always at the beckon call of family and friends who needed his help. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty (Parrott) Bushnik, four daughters, Cathy (Billy) Moore, Linda MacDonald, Neila MacLeod (Jimmy), Sharon Bushnik, three brothers, Hughie (Doreen), Arthur (Leona), Michael (Pauline), three grandchildren, Chad, Leigh Ann (Matthew), Cory, one great grandchild, Laughlin, son in law, William Jessome, three sisters in law, Mickey, Florence and Mary, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Neil was predeceased by a daughter, Regina Jessome, a sister, Mary and four brothers, John, Ted, Myles and Jimmy. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass officiated by Fr. Norman MacPhee will be held on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 at 11 am in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay followed by interment in the parish cemetery on Wallace Road.
