We were so sorry to read of Donnie's death. We have so many positive memories of he and Mocky from the days when we were all young together. He had a fund of wisdom and sage advice during my intermittent locums with the Glace Bay Clinic. He knew everybody and treated patients with such kindness. There is no doubt that he was happiest at the bungalow in East bay. Living in Halifax meant that our paths didn't cross often enough but when they did it was a great pleasure. Our Condolences to the Ferguson family. Dr. Allan and Lorna MacDonald

On behalf of my Mother, Wife and myself I send my heartfelt condolences to Donnie's family. Mr. Ferguson as I called him was a tremendous person. His commitment to the people of Glace Bay and Area was consistent and never wavering. Through his business and community volunteerism he impacted many. Donnie was a leader and he will be missed, but his legacy will live on... that legacy is: the importance for all of us to give back to the community that has given us so much.

It is with much sadness that we write this note of condolences to Donnie's family as you grieve and yet celebrate his life. Donnie was a generous and kind man, who gave of his time and his finances to many, much of which was done anonymously. He has been a valued friend for more than 60 years, and it is with much fondness that we remember him. We will miss him and his presence (on Facebook as well). Our deepest condolences to you as you adjust to holding him in your heart and memory.
With sympathy, sincerely, Bob & Janice MacKay
