Matthew Nicholson, New Waterford

Obituary of Matthew Dwayne Nicholson, New Waterford

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Matthew Dwayne (Maclean) Nicholson, 29, our most beloved son, brother, uncle, partner and friend passed suddenly. Matthew was well known by his nickname Homie G and by his unique style and being a die hard Montreal Canadiens fan. Those who knew Matthew, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. He had a very social personality and was always full of love. He never left a family member or close friend without telling them he loved them. Matthew was a great worker and always there to lend a helping hand. He was also very proud to be a former Journeyman Formworker and Labourers International Union of N.A. Local 615. Matthew will be missed everyday by his Mother, Francine Janssens (Dave); a father figure through his childhood, (Allan Maclean); special baby sister, Alyssa Maclean (Kyle); sister, Kara Maclean (Joe); brothers, John Janssens (Kerri), Elvis Janssens (Mylos), Oscar Janssens; special and only grandfather he has ever known, (Grampie) John Janssens; special aunt, (Clara); loving partner of five years, Kristina Soucy who has seen him through many hard times but always stuck by his side; nieces and nephews, Bryson Maclean, Tyler Maclean, Dallas Cathcart, Avery Cathcart, Nevaeh Cathcart, Marty Maclean, Ryan, Peyton, Ella and many, many great friends; his little buddy Cohen, as well as Evelyn Janssens and Greg Nicholson. Matthew was not a father but his nieces and nephews were the closest that he had to his own. We know Matthew is now with his big brother, Marty; step-father, Pat, nephew, Ryker and is loved here on earth as well as in heaven. Gone far too soon but the memory of your laugh, and your smile will always be in our hearts until we see you again. There will be no visitation due to Covid-19 restrictions. A private funeral service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, New Waterford, with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
