Obituary of Lorne Anthony Connors
It is with great sadness that we, Lorne’s loving family announce the unexpected passing of our loving brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Lorne passed away suddenly at his home, October 20, 2016, at the age of 62.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Frederick and Rodina (MacMullin) Connors.
Lorne was a proud coal miner; working for Devco for over 24 years. He enjoyed playing darts, shooting pool and reading; he was an avid reader and loved sharing his books. Lorne's favorite event was Halloween. For over 20 years he celebrated Halloween with fireworks and pizza with his family and friends; he had a tremendous love for his family and was a very kind and gentle soul. Lorne had an incredible sense of humor and was loved by many.
He will be sadly missed by his loving family; sister Judy Lewis; brother Fred Connors; nieces Shauna (Dale) Kelland, Judi (Freddie) Hutchison; nephews Trevor (Myra) Lewis, Fred (Marcie) Connors; grandnieces Madison and Ainsley Lewis, Kate and Eve Hutchison and Nicki, Emma and Charlie Connors.
Besides his parents, Lorne was also predeceased by his sister Euline Kelland and his sister in-law Anita Leudy Connors.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue.
Cremation will follow with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford, at a later date.
Following the funeral mass there will be a luncheon at the KOC Hall on Plummer Ave., New Waterford.
Memorial donations in Lorne’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
