Obituary of Raymond Peter Ruelland, New Victoria

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Peter Ruelland on January 8, 2021. Born April 12, 1942 in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Peter and Elsie Ruelland. Ray was a hard-working coal miner who worked in every mine in Cape Breton with the exception of Phalen. He was also a Master carpenter at the shops in Glace Bay. Even more so, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He left a lasting impression on whoever he came in contact with. Ray was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Rita, Dolly, Freddy, Anthony, Donna, Gerard, Denis, and in-laws Claudia and Charlie Macdonald. Surviving are his wife, Judy (Sweeney) Ruelland; his 5 children, Lloyd (Donna), Michaelann (Craig), Patsy, Trina and Trevor (Jennifer). The light of his life, 13 grandchildren, Devin, Jay, Marshal, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Rylan, Quinn, Bailey, Sawyer, Sidney, Luke and Jackson; great-grandchild, Nakel; siblings, Bernice (Ernie) and Noel; many nieces and nephews; extended family, Barbara, Paula, Joe, Reva, David, Ebby and Jamsey. Special mention to the O'Quinn family, Jerry, Donnie, Eddy, and Mannie; the Pozzebon family, Caridi, Blondie, Gary and Ernie; the Bakers, Raymond, Lynn, Lora, Amy and Joey; the Ruellands, Eugene, Shirley, Kevin, Cindy, Brenda and Gordie; partner in crime, Anne Marie Odo; life-long friend and helper, Robbie Burchell; and 6th kid, Sherri Cameron. "Everything is beautiful." The family would like to thank all the Nurses and Doctors on the 2nd floor of the New Waterford Hospital for their above and beyond care and smiles. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford.
