Also surviving are his siblings, Patricia Pembroke, Glace Bay, Thomas, Glace Bay, Charles (Edna), Dominion, Joseph (Elisha), Calgary and Helen (Fred Mackie), Gardiner Mines, brothers and sisters in law, John (Jane) Harrington, New Campbellton and Bertha (Ernie) Kliza, New Waterford and all their extended families. A well respected member of the community, Junior was employed by the NSLC. He retired as manager of store #418 in Dominion after 30 years of employment. Junior was an avid sports fan and could best be described as "A Quiet Man" who took great pride in his family. Junior was vice president and treasurer of the Sunday Men's Hockey League while it operated in Dominion. A founding member of the Dominion Community Hawks Club, Junior was active in all aspects of the club, having served on the executive and as treasurer for many years before health issues forced him to take a leave of absence. These last two years he truly missed the comradery and friendship of his fellow club members. He took great pride in all aspects of the club, especially in helping to distribute club funds to worthy community sporting groups and individuals. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Unit and Palliative Care, especially to nurse Michelle Kelly. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., all in V.J.
