Obituary of Robert Matheson

Matheson, Robert "Bobby" Port Morien It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bobby" Matheson, age 77 of Port Morien on Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Andrews) Matheson. Robert was employed for 35 years at the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Windsor, Ontario. He was a member of the RCL, Branch 55 as well as St. John’s United Church, Port Morien. Bobby enjoyed singing, photography, hunting and in his younger days was involved with the Boy Scouts. He will be remembered as a very kind and gentle man. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Cyr) Matheson, one daughter, Stephanie (John), Montreal, two sons, Brent (Cathy), Rev. Chris, both in Ontario, one sister, Georgie Bryne (Mike), Port Morien, his beloved three grandchildren, Lauren, Joshua, Quentin, two sisters in law, Sandra Matheson and Rose Matheson. Besides his parents, Bobby was predeceased by two brothers, Sandy and Clarence. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception, both in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Robert's son, Rev. Chris Matheson will be officiating. A private burial will be held in Blackbrook Cemetery at a later date. No flowers please. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
